WE are
always be collective!

As practitioners working in the mental health care system, we became keenly aware of the flaws and harm being caused despite best intentions. While this isn’t the case for all clients, we noticed many express their clinical diagnoses did not encapsulate their whole experience. Clients reported feeling their mental health treatment was separated from their spiritual beliefs, physical health, and community practices. We, as well as our clients, feel tired of this pattern and ready for something new.

Always Be Collective is meant to be an alternative choice.

We as practitioners treat clients with a holistic approach that is inclusive of the totality of their human experience. We incorporate mindfulness, transpersonal psychology, and intuitive energy work.

FAQs

  • The mission to ‘Always Be’ comes from the mindfulness principle of Being rather than Doing. To be aware and living in the present moment is the path to inner peace. There is so much that makes up our identity as humans and we forget that the point is to live out our truths, to stand in our power of being not in our power of doing. The word collective reflects our intention to create a community of like-minded mental health practitioners. It also happens to be the initials of the three co-founders: Avery, Brenna, and Clay.

  • We met during our Master’s program in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Psychology at Naropa University. What was special about this meeting was that each of us came from a different coast in the country: California, Maine and Florida. The study of Mindfulness is so intrinsically linked to how we practice and Transpersonal psychology continues to fuel the existential exploration of the human condition. Mindfulness grounds your feet on the earth, transpersonal sends your mind to the stars. Our relationship with one another is based on mutual respect, love and inspiration. Each founder brings a different lens and offers insight, creativity and expansion. We came together with one common mission: to help the world heal and embrace all of life’s possibilities.

  • ‘Transpersonal’ by definition means to expand beyond the boundaries and limits of personal identity, which is why we chose to create our practice outside the boundaries of the clinical mental health field. In this way, we feel we are embodying a true transpersonal practice. More traditional modalities of psychology can be hyper-focused, whereas transpersonal psychology encompasses a zoomed-out bird’s eye view of the human experience. As transpersonal counselors, we invite and honor all non-ordinary experiences and states of consciousness into the counseling relationship. Many clients report being seen and cared for with more depth, compassion, and inclusion than ever before.

  • As Non-Licensed Non-Clinical Counselors, it is important to know that we are unable to take insurance and do not diagnose and treat mental illnesses. We are not regulated by ACA (American Counseling Association) and do not adhere to the ACA code of ethics.

We recognize the limitations of Non-Licensed Counseling and adhere to the standards set forth by the code of ethics as much as possible. We offer a sliding scale to compensate for our inability to accept insurance and receive regular supervision and mentorship from seasoned Licensed Psycho-therapists to ensure our practice is safe and accountable.

All founders had the opportunity to pursue Licensure post-graduation and decided against it. We want the ability to treat clients with an authentic holistic experience. Where their physical, spiritual, and collective health and wellness is a part of their mental health care and not separated from it. We believe this is necessary for collective healing.
